Background and History

ConvergeNet was established in 2005 to address the growing need for convergence solutions in the ICT industry. The team identified the need for these solutions in emerging markets, specifically relating to multi-disciplinary products, solutions and services. As a first step, the company acquired a cash shell called Vestor Investments Limited listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange in February 2007.

Green Technologies

ConvergeNet is rapidly becoming the industry’s leading green tech, low-energy ICT supplier. Organisations are becoming more aware of the energy costs associated with ICT infrastructure. By implementing energy-efficient solutions they not only reduce running costs but contribute to lowering carbon emissions.

Our solutions include air and water economisers; cooling and dust reduction systems; green and alternative energy solutions; standby and UPS solutions; and energy cost-saving solutions.

Emerging Market Opportunities

For the world’s emerging economies, more than 65% of total ICT expenditure went into communications between 2003 and 2007. In 2007, Brazil’s communications expenditure as a percentage of total ICT expenditure was the highest at 76,8%. This was followed by China 75,2%, India 73,9% and Russia 73,6%. Except for India and Brazil, IT services accounted for a higher percentage of total expenditure comparing 2000 to 2007. For China, IT services accounted for 4,5% in 2003 and rose to 8,4% in 2007.

Credit Availability

It is important to note that many of our addressable markets are not subject to consumer credit issues and therefore the overall consumer credit situation experienced in the global economy is not expected to directly influence these consumers.
